The new Softshell Jacket from myMareCo is perfect for those days that require lightweight layering. I wore mine over a sweatshirt on a chilly morning, as well as over a long sleeve mock turtleneck. I predict I will wear it often comfortably over a t-shirt in the cooler Summer mornings, particularly at the horse shows. The color is referred to as “Sage Green”, however, I found that depending on the lighting, it would oscillate between sage green and grey blue. The jacket has two large zip pockets on both sides that easily fit your hands, or a large cell phone and small wallet. I like that it is a full zip, making it easy to take off after you are warmed up while riding. It is made of 95% polyester spandex which allows for a range of physical activity but also retains shape to accent your figure. It also is wind and water resistant. The outside material of the jacket brushes clean easily, which is important if you are wearing it at the barn! The inside is a soft brushed fleece. Pictured in a size Medium, however, I think I would get myself a Small next time. Currently priced at $68, which qualifies for free shipping!
I know some of you smarty pants are already keeping your heads cool while riding thanks to myMareCo’s moisture wicking headbands. If you don’t know, now you know (click here). Now hook yourself up pre and post rides with myMareCo’s newest product launch: the quick dry baseball hat. Made out of polyester microfiber, with a fully mesh lined interior that helps circulate air flow and allows your head to “breathe”, this hat will dry quickly, rain or sweat. This is perfect timing for the still hot September weeks ahead, as well as the daily thunderstorms that inevitably accompany those hot days. Another feature that deserves a mention is how easily the hats can fold up for storage in your handbag or tack trunk. This also means there is zero extra bulk, giving your head a more streamlined look. I have a hat in my aforementioned tack trunk at the barn and one folded up in the interior door of my car. I try try try to keep my face out of the sun and this way, I have no excuses.
Currently comes in two colors: black and grey. The hats are low profile and adjustable but they also come in two sizes for a more custom looking fit.

Amanda Dowie is a life-long, avid equestrian. She lives in the UK and owns four horses. I think it is safe to assume that if you own and ride four horses you need all that saddle time to be as comfortable as possible. In 2018, Amanda launched her brand, Georgian Dollar, named after her daughter’s pony. Her dream was to design equestrian jeans that are stylish, comfortable and technically functional. I’d say mission accomplished.
The Sieta Equestrian Jeans are noticeably soft. The denim is so inviting that I wondered if it would be durable. I received my pair in November and so far, so good!. The second thing your eye will be drawn to is the black Lycra that starts at the ankle and travels up the front of the shins. At first I thought this was random but the Lycra material (instead of denim) helps streamline the leg and prevent bulk under your tall boots or chaps. Note that the back of the leg does not have Lycra. The Sieta has sillicone grip patches around the inner thigh/seat area that are small and blue in color, blending into the denim well. I also really liked that there are pockets in the back. I always think back pockets are flattering on breeches, helping them bridge the gap to street style, and also, let’s face it, it’s a nice place to put your phone when you are not riding!
I own two other pairs of denim breeches and I will say these feel the most like my favorite pair of mainstream jeans, which is what I imagine Amanda was really striving for. Today, so many of us find ourselves wearing our riding breeches for hours after we have been at the barn (running errands, picking up the kids, cooking dinner) and so it is really appreciated when your comfort doesn’t require you changing your outfit immediately. My only other comment would pertain to the unique button flap. It caused me to double check my zipper on occasion.
Georgian Dollar also has a white denim breech called the Regalita for sale, which I think would be a nice addition to a Spring/Summer equestrian wardrobe. The Georgian Dollar jeans can be thrown into the wash with your other clothes, so don’t be afraid to try white. Note: I like to hang dry mine and then put into the dryer for a few minutes.
Be sure to follow Georgian Dollar on Instagram so you can keep up with their growing brand!
Dapplebay has updated their lifestyle collection with new Fall inspired pieces. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some of the everyday horse girl pieces and wanted to share them with you. Use code HORSEGLAM10 to get 10% off your purchase for a limited time this holiday season.
When the cropped trend began, I thought it was cute but I really didn’t anticipate wearing the look as much as I have been. It is pretty hard to ignore how comfortable these hoodies are though. They are lined with fleece and the dropped shoulder with longer sleeves feels like you are snuggled in a blanket. The raw hemline makes it seem like you aren’t trying, a facade that I dig. The flowy, cropped t-shirt material is just as comfy – it feels like satin against your skin. I loved the color of this one pictured!
The “Dream Chaser” t-shirt is one of my fall favorites as I cannot have too many long sleeves this time of year. The fit is tailored so it is easy to wear alone or underneath something else, like the cropped sweatshirt. I am a firm believer in layering when the temperatures drop! I also appreciate that the design is on the back. It’s more subtle. Sometimes I feel like big designs on the front of a shirt can be obnoxious.
The bomber jacket was really popular on my Instagram feed. The fit is more of a boyfriend style, which is perfect for equestrian needs as it fits easily over your clothes to keep you warm while at the barn. Ribbed sleeves, waistband and crewneck areas finish the look.
Visit DappleBay to see more of these looks Don’t forget the HORSEGLAM10 code!

Before I became familiar with the brand IBKUL, it never dawned on me to wear sun shirts in any other facet of my life other than horse back riding. Spending time at the barn generally always means time in the sun, so I try to keep my neck and arms covered as much as possible by wearing sun shirts. When I step outside my equestrian bubble, it is pretty clear how versatile the IBKUL sun shirts really are. Golf, tennis, running and even relaxing pool-side are all activities that could benefit from IBKUL. The shirts are made with Icefill fabric technology that converts your sweat into cooling energy to help keep you cool, even when the temperatures outside are anything but. The long sleeve shirts have mesh underneath for optimum ventilation, something I always appreciate in the middle of the summer. Also important is that the fabric is UPF50+, which offers superior sun protection for your skin.
The first thing I noticed about IBKUL was the vast amount of colors and patterns to choose from. If you like color and patterns then this is your place! IBKUL is not foremost an equestrian brand, but they definitely had us equestrians on their mind with the introduction of the Promenade “Bitty” Top. This same pattern comes in a short sleeve option, as well as 2 other colors (navy/pink and orange). I am wearing the black/red color option, which features interwoven gold bits and curb chains. When zipped, the half zip mock neck gives it a polished look, perfect for a riding lesson. Unzipped makes for a more casual feel. I paired this long sleeve sun shirt with black breeches and vintage tan knee patches.
Also pictured is the Short Sleeve Zip Mock Neck in solid Navy. This style comes in numerous other colors, from Black to Seafoam. Like the long sleeve sun shirt, the shirt sleeve has built in moisture-wicking and anti-microbial properties, making it an ideal choice for any outdoor athleisure activity. One of the reviews mentioned they wore theirs frequently for gardening! I paired mine with rust colored breeches.
Be sure to visit the IBKUL website to see all of the many color choices and detailed patterns they offer. I often times get questions from Instagram followers asking for help with matching their breeches and “what color would I wear with this”. IBKUL would be a great place to start when looking for pattern ideas!
If you are looking for casual clothing with an equestrian touch, or even an easy gift for your horsey friend, I am confident you can find what you are looking for at Dapplebay. Dapplebay has apparel and accessories that are fun, fresh and often sport a cute or witty equestrian theme. From cellphone cases to baseball hats, Dapplebay has got you covered.
I get so many comments about my Dapplebay iPhone case that says something we all have thought from one time or another: “I like horses not people.” Naturally I have the matching t-shirt which is a necessary staple for those rough Mondays! Dapplebay t-shirts come in slim cut and boyfriend tee styles, but I tend to gravitate to fits that are looser like the boyfriend t-shirts. They tuck in easily and I feel more comfortable with the extra material to spare, especially if I want to half tuck it in.
I am obsessed with my “Good Rides Only” cropped hooded sweatshirt (also comes in non-hooded option) and cannot wait for temperatures to dip lower in the fall so I can wear it weekly! To say it is soft and comfy is an understatement. The fleece interior, dropped shoulder and extra long arms are so cozy. I love the play on the popular saying “Good Vibes Only” too. If you like this phrase, you can find it on t-shirts here.
If you like my vintage black cotton twill hat, then be sure to visit this link where you can pick from numerous equestrian sayings. I loved the fit of this hat so much that I asked Dapplebay if I could get one that had Horse Glam on it! It fits low, relaxed and snug on my head.
Also worth mentioning is that Dapplebay has a NEW kids line, where most of the adult sized apparel is available in kids/youth, sizes 2-12. Leah was so nice to send Logan a t-shirt and she couldn’t wait to wear it to ride her first pony ever, Chase! When she saw that I had the matching t-shirt she about jumped for joy, it was so funny!
Thanks Dapplebay for giving us a sneak peak of your new lifestyle collection! Can’t wait to see what is next!
Apacceli launched last Fall promising luxury clothing, with an equestrian twist, made for the athletic woman. I received two of their current pieces, both of which fulfilled Apacceli’s promise.
The Studded Sweater is dark gray, with gunmetal studs placed in flattering patterns. The neckline is wide with a more conservative front cut, but surprises in the back where it dips into a lower, feminine V. I wore mine with Botori riding breeches to play on the equestrian feel, but the Studded Sweater would stun in a pair of black jeans and booties. It could easily transition from casual Friday at work to dinner that night with your girlfriends. It is cut shorter than I anticipated, but I thought the length (hitting right at my belt loop area) gave it a modern, younger feel.
Inspired by the famous cave paintings in France (I drew a blank so I had to Google too, don’t worry!), the Lascaux Bull Sweater uses faceted studs and maroon colored brush strokes to create the outline of a bull. I originally was going to wear black cut-up jeans with the sweater to balance out the fancy stud detail, but at the last minute decided to embrace the glamour. I used faux leather leggings and loved the final look.
As you can see from the pictures, Apacceli delivered on luxury. The pieces are luxe and well made. They also are not cheap, each around $200. The equestrian influence is also apparent but subtle. The studs were a nice touch that did not distract from the overall picture. The sizing is based off an athletic build so you should size down if you are in between sizes. Both of my sweaters are a size XS.
I previously mentioned that both sweaters would look great with black jeans. Conveniently, Apacceli sells black jeans with gunmetal studs, similar to those on the Studded Sweater. These are currently sold out, but definitely something to think about when they are re-stocked. If you are in the market for cocktail attire or a formal dress, be sure to check out Apacceli’s Velvet Cape dress. Off-the shoulder and hitting mid-thigh, this would be a showstopper.
I look forward to seeing the upcoming collections from Apacceli. Be sure to follow them on Instagram to see what is next!
Nearly one year ago I wrote this review (click here) on Botori and their first riding pant, the Gina. I liked the pants back then, but I really love them now. This Winter, Botori updated the fit of the Gina, calling the new version the “G2”. Don’t fret, Botori kept all the original parts that made the Gina a must-have: the brushed warm fleece, the ribbed ankle cuffs, the streamlined mesh pockets (perfect for your cell phone while riding), shape retention fabric and opaque material (no see through moments).
The G2 improves upon the waistband fit. It is still ribbed, which makes it comfortable and flexible. It is also still high waisted, which I still very much appreciate. However, the waist area compression has been greatly improved. You may recall from my review last year that I did have some problems with the pants slipping down. This year, I tested the G2 over an 8 hour day and paid careful attention to how often I readjusted the waist area. I had gotten this question from my Instagram followers so often after the release of the G2 that I took this quest really seriously and even made notes. I wore the G2 from 8:30am to 3:30pm, using them to ride Chloe, then to scrub her legs afterwards (pesky scratches) and then for 5 hours worth of errands and toddler things. During that nearly 8 hr period I only had to readjust twice. Once was after I was done washing, scrubbing and drying Chloe’s legs. The second was after Logan (2 yr old) was throwing a fit about me carrying her on my hip throughout Target, as opposed to riding in the cart. Needless to say, I was very pleased with the results.
Botori is a young company, but they really understand the needs and wants of a modern rider and woman on the constant go. If you have a chance to buy one new item this Winter/Spring, I really suggest the G2 or even the Taylor pant. At only $85- $110, you won’t regret it. I have lived in the G2 this Winter, refusing to sacrifice comfort and versatility for a traditional waistband and belt! Use my code HORSEGLAM10 for 10% off your order!
As promised on my live unboxing video, here is my review of the new NF.Edit subscription box by Noelle Floyd. Unlike any other equestrian subscription box, this one is geared solely with the rider in mind. Take that Chloe! Each of the boxes are stamped with the message, “You spend your time taking care of your horse, so we’re taking care of you”. The items are geared towards rider indulgence, rider recovery, and rider performance. With the classy and fashionable lifestyle brand of Noelle Floyd behind the boxes, you are guaranteed to receive the best of the best products. They search extensively for what they call “rider realities” and they are taking the advice of some of the top riders in every discipline when they fill the boxes.
Each box is $59 and promises over $100 worth of goodies related to health, beauty and fashion. The boxes come every 3 months, just like most other subscription box services. The contents of each box are a total surprise, which is definitely fun for the surprise factor, but also means that you cannot customize your boxes. Typically I would lean towards the customization factor of other boxes, but because I trust the NF.Edit team completely in their tastes, I am totally down for the surprise! It is sort of like opening up a birthday gift from your most fashionable and bestest friend. You just know it is going to be amazing and … it was! So what was in my September box, which happened to be the first EVER NF.Edit box? Hint: The retail value totals over $140! Let’s dive in:
Scentuals seems to be tuned into my current riding mood lately. Actually, my current life mood. The NF.Edit box contained two roll-on essential oils by Scentuals. One was De-Stress, which obviously promises to calm you down, and the other was for Emotional Balance. Two things that you need before you sit on a horse, any horse. I am so excited to use these. I mentioned in my live video that I am a mess before I show (I mean total mess), but recently I am starting to get anxiety before my lessons, which is so silly. I really look forward to using these essential oils from Scentuals. I bet Chloe will appreciate it too! Note that the retail value is a total of $25.
Essential Helmet Spray from Equestrian Wellness was such a pleasant surprise as my helmet had mold in it recently. Yes, MOLD!! The spray helps to break down and remove any bacteria from your helmet, so I will be sure to douse mine with my new spray before and after I ride. You can also use the spray on other things too, like your boots, gloves, and even hair (it is non-toxic and all natural). It retails for $14.
Another item from Scentuals was the quick absorbing Grapefruit and Turmeric Hand Cream. This could easily go under the rider indulgence category, but I am putting it under rider recovery for me. My hands are always so dry and rough from the harsh barn atmosphere and washing them 100 times a day. They totally need this cream in order to recover from this Summer. Retail value is $8.
I was shocked to see a belt from Ruespari in the box. This belt alone retails for more than the cost of the subscription box. The color is called “black caviar” and the look and style is so classic it will go with every riding or non-riding outfit. My clasp was silver. I also liked that it is able to fit within all of my belt loops so far! Some of my current belts are too wide, which can be frustrating when you have a certain look in mind. Retail value is $75.
Who doesn’t like cozy socks, especially if they are by Dreamers&Schemers? Unlike their typical bootsocks, these are much thicker. I personally wouldn’t be able to get them under my custom half chaps because they are so tight, but that is okay because they will go perfectly under my jeans, or under some mainstream fashion boots. They will also be great for when I am bingeing on Netflix, which feels like it is every weekend. I am not sure of the retail value of this because it is a total custom thing for NF.Edit, but I would guess it is more than the typical bootsock of $18.
So, not too bad for only $59, right?! I think NF.Edit delivered on their promise to deliver an equestrian lifestyle subscription box that focuses on health, fashion and beauty. What do you think? Let me know!

Second skin is the perfect way to describe these moisture wicking leggings from LD Equestrian. Made of soft, four-way stretch and non-shrinking fabric, these leggings are both durable and very comfortable. The leggings have “zoned compression” around your glutes for extra support and optimum shaping, which I really appreciated when taking close-up pictures! These technical leggings also have two side pockets, each large enough for a cellphone, and a small, hidden pocket inside the waistband. The smaller pocket can fit a house-key, which is handy if you use them for running, like I did. Small rhinestones on the back of the leggings add an extra embellishment.
I loved the fit of these leggings. They are a bit tight going on, but once I managed to pull them up they fit me perfectly. As mentioned, there is zoned compression around your bottom, but honestly, I felt like this compression was everywhere (in a good way). The material is thin and cool for moisture wicking purposes, but when the leggings are on, they feel more substantial than you first think and you can’t help but feel confident in them. I really think this confidence comes across in my pictures.
The website says you can ride in them, and there are many pictures and testimonials where people love riding in these leggings, however, please note that they do not have knee patches. For some riders this may not matter, but for me, I prefer to ride in breeches or tights/leggings that have traditional knee patches. I loved the fabric and fit of these leggings so much, that I was really happy to see that they have breeches (with knee patch grips) made of the same or similar fabric.
I am wearing a size 2. These are black. They come in navy too.
I have gotten tons of compliments on this top. It is a fantastic combination of sporty and sexy! It is blousy in the front and ties in the back, perfectly giving you a peek at the rhinestones on the leggings. The top comes in 5 colors!
You really cannot beat the prices either. These ship from England but you can always catch big deals on their social media or website! In fact, both the leggings and the top are on a MAJOR sale right now! Let me know what you think!
I have been a fan of Tara Kiwi t-shirts for many years now. The brand has a modern Californian feel with a strong nod to classic equestrian images, two descriptions that do not typically get said in the same sentence. Tara Kiwi seamlessly, and quite effortlessly, pulls of the style combination. The color palettes are soft and cheerful, easily pared with jeans, gym shorts or breeches. I also really appreciate that Tara Kiwi has a large kids selection. Now that I have a 2 year old daughter I am always on the lookout for cute kid-sized equestrian clothing. Surprisingly, it is harder to find than I thought it would be and it is even harder to find kids clothes that are not obnoxious or cheesy. Tara Kiwi is neither.
The “Helmet and Boot Wreath” is one of my favorites – I actually have this same print in adult size for myself (navy). The helmet/boot image is as traditional english as you can get but the hot pink t-shirt gives it a playfulness that is perfect for ages 2-14. I should add that the t-shirt is more of muted hot pink, as you can see from the pictures. Claudia is wearing a size 8. This t-shirt also comes in grey.
The “Roman Horse” is inspired by vintage stock pins and equestrian jewelry. I swear I had a ratcatcher pin exactly like this when I did Walk-Trot as a kid! The horse head is pictured over a riding whip. Jenna is wearing a size 10 in Cancun Blue. T-shirt also comes in grey.
Why have just one horse when you can have 16 horses? “Gaits of a Horse” is one of the best selling designs and depicts all 4 gaits of the horse. This was the first design collaboration with talented artist Danielle Demers (who you may know from Dapplebay, Inc.) and Tara Leu, the owner of Tara Kiwi. This shirt also comes in hot pink and cancun blue.
One thing I really appreciate about the t-shirts is they are long enough to easily tuck in, with no worries about them coming untucked over the lonnnng spot fence or when your pony is dragging you over to the clovers! All shirts are pre-shrunk and made from 100% cotton (or organic cotton). Each design is made and screen printed in California.
Free shipping on all orders over $75.
Out with the old and in with the Nora. The “Nora” softshell jacket, by R.J. Classics, presents a modern fitted, performance enhanced show coat, without sacrificing the traditional hunt look. Gone are the days of the heavy wool-blends. Show coats now are all about performance, fit and convenience.
PERFORMANCE. The half-lined mesh interior is less restrictive when you are riding, promotes better ventilation and helps to streamline the overall shape of the jacket. No more extra bulk wearing you down, preventing full range of motion or making you over-heated.
FIT. The Nora has a hidden interior zipper (I had no clue until I borrowed one for a picture before purchasing my own!) that provides a tailored look and prevents any unsightly gapping. There are 3 exterior buttons, maintaining the traditional hunter/jumper look.
CONVENIENCE. The jacket can be machine washed (be sure to read care instructions first!), which is so much more convenient than going to the dry cleaner (and cheaper!). The fabric also has antimicrobial properties that help tp prevent odors and it easily wipes off, so you have a better chance of getting more than 1 day out of it at the show. According to the website, the the softshell is moisture wicking and has UPF 50 protection.
I would say the fit is true to the size chart. Also comes in Black, Green and Grey. Navy is pictured. Click HERE to buy.
Chances are good that you have heard about BOTORI. BOTORI is short for Born To Ride and is a new company created by two avid equestrian friends who wanted more from their riding attire. The founders, PJ and Angela, are very relatable. They are amateur riders that are passionate about their sport. They also are working professionals, with demanding careers and schedules, juggling riding, work, families, pets, errands and favorite Netflix shows just like the rest of us. They needed a riding pant that would seamlessly transition with them throughout their busy days. BOTORI’s first riding pant named “Gina” was released this Winter and I was one of the first lucky customers.
Comfortable, Flexible, Retains shape. Each day I have worn the Gina pants I have had them on for more than 8 hrs. This includes all day long at a horse show, but more typically I have worn them to ride in the AM and then to run around doing errands afterwards. The fit is like a second skin and the material is very soft and breathable. It is basically like wearing Lululemon with suede knee patches. They are very flexible but they retain their shape. There isn’t any stretching out, which I LOVE because I feel like everything I own pants-wise stretches so much that Chloe can get in there with me by the end of the day. In fact, since they don’t stretch and they never look dirty (see below), I have worn them multiple times before washing.
Easily Wipes Off. You might have caught some of my Instagram stories on this, but Chloe challenged BOTORI to a duel and well, BOTORI won. After an intense Chloe grooming session, filled with dander and short horse hairs, my BOTORI easily brushed clean, much to Chloe’s dismay. In fact, even at the horse show (as mentioned above) the dust did not stick.
Pocket Perfection. There are two cell phone sized pockets on either size of the pants. Made of breathable mesh, they are not obvious (unless being used). I love the pockets because when I am at the barn, I usually only bring my phone with me, leaving everything else in the car. Now, I won’t misplace my phone 10 times and I can have it on me when I am riding, so I can listen to music, check the time, answer any important messages and/or take pics of Chloe’s cute ears. There is also an obvious safety aspect to it if you are riding alone, which I do most frequently. At the horse show, I even carried cash in them, but typically I just have my phone in there.
Not see through. Enough said.
Breathable fabric, versatile in different temperatures. The first day I had them on, I wore them to a horse show, where the weather fluctuated from 40s to high 60’s and then back to chilly. Despite the variation in temperatures, I was always comfortable in the pants. The inside is lined with a thin layer of thermal material to help keep you warm in the chilly weather, so it will not be suitable for the NC hot summers, just FYI. BUT, they are coming out with a Summer pant!!
I have the BLACK pants, but they come in a dark grey as well. I wear a size SMALL and I would say they are true to size. Sizes range from XS – XL. The waistband is high and ribbed, which I really like. I was pulling it up more than I wanted to, but I think that is more of a nervous habit of mine rather than a fit issue, as I didn’t notice I was doing it until someone commented about it. I also really liked the ankle cuffs, which are also ribbed and snug, but still comfortable. They easily fit under chaps or boots, and look great with non-equestrian shoes when you are running errands.
Final note: If you are looking for an affordable, modern and comfortable riding pant that you can wear to the barn, and all the hours in between, you should give BOTORI a try. The Gina is currently on sale for $95. Click HERE to check it out.
When I am asked to describe my style I have no idea how to label myself. The only thing I can ever think to say is that I really like to “appear” effortless and casual. I love layers and oversized or unrestrictive tops. For this reason, I was really excited to try a few pieces from an Australian company called HORSELY. HORSELY has an entire page dedicated to Boho style, and it is there that I found two of my new layering pieces for Winter/Spring.
The Baha Boutique Knitted Pullover is the perfect accessory to any outfit. It is embroidered with large and intricately designed flowers that nearly pop right off the sweater. The flowers are colorful (red, blue, yellow, green) but they are set in a warm gray tone that help pull the look into a more neutral palette. I wore mine with hunter green riding breeches in the pictures, but it goes great with dark skinny jeans and heels too. The website has it paired with white jeans, which is a fun idea for Spring/Summer, especially for cooler nights when you may be eating/hanging outside.
The Baha’s fit is best described as slouchy. The sleeves are very long and flowy and the overall width of the sweater is loose and unrestrictive. It is shorter in the front and looks best when it is halfway tucked in. The quality of the sweater is very good – it isn’t thin – it really will act as a layering piece and help keep you warm, all the while looking cute.
I stepped out of my comfort zone of neutrals when I tried the Tribal Print Bohemian Jacket. IT WAS SO FUN! Again, this is another HORSELY piece that you do not have to worry with accessorizing because it is the accessory! I wore mine with breeches and a pocket tank underneath for the pictures, but once it warms up I am definitely going to try layering it over a dress. It really can be dressed up (maxi dress) or dressed down (black t-shirt and jeans) depending on what you are doing. These versatile pieces, like the jacket, are the BEST to have – they give you so many options.
The fit was tailored around the shoulders and then flowed more loosely as it went down. The arms are not tight and are 3/4 sleeve, making it more casual and playful. There are no buttons and so it stays open for a modern look. A fantastic addition to your wardrobe for $30!
NOTE: FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING AND FREE RETURNS.
HORSELY has other items besides apparel: equestrian decor, equestrian inspired jewelry, bags, and belts. The FREE shipping is huge – it is so expensive to ship international that I am shocked they offer this free shipping option. Note that it is coming from Australia so you need to give it 2 weeks or more to arrive. The customer service is great too. I am really excited that I found this company and can share it with you all!
Being silly with my bestie! SO many fun tshirts are coming out by different brands. This one is from Bending Lines and comes in black (as pictured) and white. It feels good to shop small! Check the Insta for more pics by Shannen Smyth Photog!
First, thanks to everyone that voted for ME as their favorite social media “influencer” in the Dreamers & Schemers Instagram questionnaire! Your votes resulted in me receiving a package of boot socks from the D&S NEW spring collection! As you can imagine, the sock prints are just as creative, silly and unexpected as they have always been. We are talking ninjas, whales, ombre’ colored ponies, and my personal favorite, and true-life representation of my financial situation, images of stacks of dollar bills flying away. I am sure this is something every horse owner can understand!
I have been wearing D&S since its beginning and have even interviewed Kristy Lake (the CEO) previously on Horse Glam (see HERE). In 2018, the design still packs the same humorous punch, but the function is noticeably improved. Perhaps the most obvious improvement is the addition of light padding in the heel, toe and bottom of the foot areas. Not only does this provide your foot more comfort, but the durability of your sock is positively impacted. The cuffs (top of the sock) are now knit with black thread so if your boots slouch, your socks will not be noticeable, as the black will blend right in with your tall boots. This same black thread is throughout the new padded areas I previously mentioned, keeping your foot game looking fresh when you take your boots off after nailing your class. The top of the foot and calf area is now made with material that is slightly thicker than your normal nylon, which means better snugness (is this a word?) and no more falling down your leg.
So, as you can see, D&S has made a number of changes to improve their already awesome socks. I will be sure to report back in 60+ days with a follow-up report. I really look forward to letting you guys know if the change in material in the calf/top of foot areas will continue to help my socks from slipping down. So far, so good though!
Two things I can totally get behind are: good vibes and pullover sweatshirts. Put the two together and I am sold. We are in the midst of winter and so the pullover is out in full force, whether it is used as a layer on the coldest of days, or brought along just in case you may need it. Luckily Shop ECE totally gets the value of a good layering option and if you are familiar with the brand, you know that they do not do boring. All of the pullovers are embroidered with fun and cute sayings or images. This particular pullover I selected is embroidered with “good vibes” – which I love because it is something that is soooo important when I am riding. If I am in a negative mood, Chloe feeds off of it and we generally have a horrible ride together. It also is a good reminder for daily life. Spread happiness and positivity where you go – you never know when someone may need it and it always comes right back to you in the end. I personally also have the “magical AF” pullover and I wear it at least 2 times a week!!
Get your pullover HERE and hurry, each style is a limited edition and they go super fast! In fact, “magical AF” is gone! Current pricing is $45.00. Runs small so size up.
I am loving The Polished Rider – an online equestrian retail boutique that offers everything you need to look fashionable and ride functionally. Winter is finally here in NC with temperatures dipping into the 20s! To be honest, I was sort of excited to try out my new winter riding jacket from The Polished Rider: The Maya Jacket by Horseware Ireland.
- The color is lovely. Olive green jacket, with brass zipper and brown suede trim.
- Padding lines and darts are on trend and slimming.
- High neckline is flattering and super cozy.
- Love the subtle sheen to the jacket. I could easily see myself wearing this with jeans too. AND because it is machine washable (see below) I can easily wear it outside of the barn.
- Machine washable! Bye-Bye horse hair!
- Two-way zipper for riding comfortably.
- High collar to block the wind and other weather.
- Hidden hood in neckline.
- Pockets outside and inside. Large enough for phone and carrots.
This jacket is only $110 and ships free from The Polished Rider! Be on the lookout for more photos from one of my recent photoshoots! 🙂
If you are looking for a good layering piece, or maybe you are lucky enough to spend your winter in FL and you don’t need a winter riding coat, this Dover Cowl Neck Pullover is a good option. I picked it up at the last Dover sale and was first drawn to it because of the color. It is mostly black with herringbone print on the neck. The snap closure is offset, giving it a fashionable feel. The neckline is composed of thermal fabric and can be buttoned to provide you with a variety of neckline heights. It was perfect the other day for blocking some chilly wind during my morning lesson. Also, there are rollover mitten sleeves with thumb holes to provide extra warmth for when you forget your gloves (always me). The pocket is large enough for a phone, but not much else. I purchased mine on sale, but typically it is priced at $89. Not sure I would pay this much for myself, but it would make a great gift for sure..
I love a good t-shirt. My life consists mainly of jeans, athleisure wear (okay, my fancy word for sweatpants) and breeches, so for me, having plenty of quality t-shirts to cycle through is key. While they are essential closet staples, solid white and grey t-shirts can be boring and routine. That’s why I tend to gravitate to brands like TKEQ. They have soft, quality t-shirts with single word or short phrases on them that make commonplace sense to your mainstream audience, but have underlying equestrian meanings that only other equestrians would notice. I LOVE THIS! The t-shirts come in neutral colors with a slim fit that makes them very versatile. I have worn them at the barn, shopping, and with pajamas. TKEQ is based in Canada, but the package got here cheaply and very quickly. Both shirts pictured are a size M. Hurry over to their website and browse all the major sales! Click HERE to shop!
It is no joke that I wore the EQUO Schooling Pant for 3 weeks before I even wore them to the barn. When the pants came in the mail, I quickly tried them on and ended up keeping them on all day, a day that consisted of pre-school drop off, running to Target and doing my HG fitness challenge workout. It really didn’t feel odd. The pants are quite comfortable, almost like a second skin. They also do not look like riding pants to the untrained eye – so I am pretty sure every non-horse person figured I was wearing trendy athleisure wear.
I think my favorite part is the waist band. It folds over and makes the tummy area so flattering, even after two kids. The extra width of the folded area makes it relaxing to sit without feeling like you are being cut in half by the elastic. I also can attest that it never rode up – something it promises on their website. Once you got the pants in place, they do not move. My second favorite part was the design. I wasn’t prepared to like the grips so much. Something about the texture, subtleness and grip placement made me feel like an action figure, but in a cool, kick butt way! I also love that EQUO is spelled out in the grips. Again, this is something I didn’t think I would like so much, but I really do.
Don’t let the term “schooling pant” fool you either. These pants are designed to endure any sort of schooling ride or lesson.
I am wearing XS (I wear a 26R in breeches) and they fit like a glove. I think they would be too big in my lower leg if I ordered a S, but a S probably could have worked too. The color I have on is “Gray”.

I first heard about EQUO thanks to an Instagram story featuring their “Champagne & Horses” cover up. Champagne AND horses? These are two of my favorite things so I just had to figure out the source of this shirt and I had to have it!! I found EQUO’s website and I quickly realized that I needed a second coverup – one that, according to my trainer, describes all of my lessons perfectly. I am sadly referencing the “Finding a Distance” cover up. 🙂
The coverups are super soft and light-weight. They have wider necklines because they are designed to be used as a layer when riding. The wider opening means you can take it off, or put it on, without removing your helmet. Safety first! I don’t know about you, but I am always discarding layers when I ride, so I thought this was sort of genius. Additionally, if you are at a competition, you can wear it over your white show shirt and keep yourself clean…well as clean as one can be around horses! I’ve had mine for a few weeks now and I have actually been wearing it mostly alone, either with schooling breeches or with jeans. Sometimes when I am just running errands, I put a sports bra underneath it and wear it off the shoulder. It really is quite versatile and both shirts come in a few different color selections. I really like the “wine” color above though. It would look great with dark breeches or jeans! I am wearing a size Medium below for reference, but I think I would have been okay with a Small too.

Leah Kaufmann is back!! Leah started Dapplebay Inc., an equestrian clothing and accessory line, in 2011. She sold DB in 2015, but you don’t really forget about your first love, do you? As fate should have it, Leah had a chance to buy DB back and now she is holding the reins again, energized and more excited than ever to release new styles and designs, even a new logo. Leah hand draws all the designs herself and each item is made in the USA. We were able to get our hooves on a brand new item, and bonus for us, it is a something we wear non-stop as soon as the weather gets below 55 degrees! Wait for it, wait for it…Dapplebay Inc., Leggings!!!
There are many colors to choose from. Seriously, every color you could possibly need or want for a legging. I happen to have black, grey and purple. The leggings are covered in DB’s signature Eventing, Hunter/Jumper or Dressage designs. The fit for me was spot on. I ordered a Small, based on the size I wear in breeches and they fit me perfectly. I like the soft and relaxing feel to them, but they also feel more substantial than I anticipated. Sometimes I hear the word “legging” and I worry that the material will be too thin. OH, I also LOVED where the waist band hit me. It was the perfect mid-rise without being “mom-ish”, but still offering great coverage in case you want to go eat tacos and 20 lbs of chips/queso dip after your workout or ride. 🙂 Everyone does that too, right??
I have worn these about 7 times so far, and rode in them once (perfect for a light hack, but note that they do not have knee patches and I rode in my halfchaps), and they have not stretched out or lost their shape. Color is still as vibrant too. For $48 each, you can’t beat it. If you are looking for a versatile equestrian closet staple that won’t break your wallet, what are you waiting for? Click HERE TO BUY !
